3 Signs It’s Time To Walk Away from Volunteering and Advocacy Work

Female Leaders have a lot of pressure put on them to not only prove their leadership abilities, but to also make sure they are giving a ton of time and money to every volunteer opportunity and advocacy group that comes their way.

There’s nothing wrong with volunteering or advocating for causes that you care about; however, it’s time we normalize the fact that not every Female Leader is in a season to give back in those ways.

And that’s okay.

Your work as a Female Leader and an entrepreneur is enough.

What you are already giving through your products and services and leadership is enough!

You’ve only got so much time and energy to give and it’s time to stop sacrificing your main priorities on the altar of “giving back.”

3 signs that it’s time to step away from volunteer and advocacy work:

1. If you experience guilt and shame from people when you mention taking a break. This includes mom groups, school functions, charities, etc. Doing things out of guilt and shame is not what Fearless Feminine Leaders do.

2. If your identity is wrapped up in the victim or hero status of that disease or issue you are advocating for. You are more than the identity of that issue. Honor the more that’s inside of you and step aside when you notice your identity attachment so someone else can step up.

3. If it is taking away your time and energy from your job, your family, or the things you used to enjoy. Never sacrifice your family’s future by doing everything for free. It will burn you out and lead to bitterness and resentment. You deserve to be paid well for what you do. Give back with wisdom, not frivolously.

Listen, I’ve done all of these things in my life. I was born with a disease called cystic fibrosis and there have been seasons where I advocated hard for this. Ive also volunteered for tons of church things in the past at the expense of our personal finances. (That’s a story for another time.)

I’m now in a season of stepping back a little and focusing on other things for a bit. No guilt. No shame. No identity crisis. No sacrificing my family’s future. Just honesty about where I’m at and what I need to focus on.

That’s what Fearless Female Leaders do.

In the upcoming online Leadership Group for women called, She Says YES I Can, my business partner and I will teach you how to be a Leader who says YES to new possibilities through: sparking joy; getting curious; expanding your connections; sowing the seeds of possibility; following through in the face of fear; making smart decisions; and taking risks.

If you’re ready to grow your confidence so you can step away from volunteering and advocating and say YES to something new, then click here to grab your spot today.

Payment plans are available.

We start June 27th.
